Who are we ?

Patricia and Alexis, the founders of Thalassa, met while studying at the University of Nice, where they worked within the same marine research laboratory. United by a shared passion for understanding and protecting marine ecosystems, they founded Thalassa in 2018 to transform scientific research into practical solutions for marine conservation and sustainable coastal management. Building on extensive experience gained through research projects across the Mediterranean, Thalassa has evolved into a marine environmental consultancy delivering scientific expertise to public authorities, private organizations, and environmental managers. Our work spans ecological monitoring, environmental impact assessments, marine habitat restoration, and applied research, helping clients make informed decisions based on robust scientific evidence. Today, Thalassa is a trusted partner for marine environmental projects at both regional and Mediterranean scales, working closely with research institutions, public agencies, and conservation organisations to advance the protection and sustainable management of marine ecosystems.

“As a marine biologist, I began my career in ecophysiology research before moving into applied marine environmental consulting. Today, I work as a Marine Environmental Consultant, combining scientific data analysis with close collaboration with environmental managers, particularly within Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas, to support the sustainable management of marine resources. Fluent in French, English, Italian and Portuguese, I work comfortably in international and multicultural environments, facilitating both scientific collaboration and engagement with local communities. I am also committed to environmental awareness and knowledge sharing, helping diverse audiences better understand and engage with today's marine conservation challenges”.

“I hold a PhD in Marine Ecology and am a professional scientific diver with more than 15 years of experience in marine environmental research and consultancy. My expertise focuses on the study and monitoring of Mediterranean marine ecosystems affected by human pressures and climate change. My work has centred on benthic communities, fish assemblages, and the functioning and dynamics of coastal habitats, enabling me to develop an integrated, field-based approach to marine ecosystem assessment and management. Through projects carried out across the Mediterranean, I have gained extensive field experience in ecologically sensitive areas, combining scientific expertise with the implementation of long-term monitoring programmes and practical conservation and management actions.”
