The collective article recently published in Mediterranean Marine Science reports the rare species or first time identification in the Mediterranean Sea.

THALASSA Marine research participated in this article with the observation of a Kyphosus sp. specimen captured in Villefranche-sur-Mer bay in June 2021. Morphometric and meristic characteristics measured suggest that this specimen may be an individual of Kyphosus sectatrix, but we will need genetic analysis to confirm it.

We thank David Gamba and the Association Monégasque pour la Protection de la Nature for their reporting and their responsiveness.
